Thunder Exploration, Inc. is a privately held, internally funded oil and gas production and investment company founded in 1981. Its’ founder and principal, Walter S. Light Jr., is a petroleum geologist with over 46 years of broad industry experience and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
Thunder generates drilling prospects in the United States and participates in drilling oil and gas wells and projects on a non-operated basis. Currently, Thunder Exploration has production under approximately forty US-based operators, ranging in size from international majors to privately-owned concerns. Thunder has both geological and operational experience in planning and executing both vertical and horizontal wells in various plays and producing trends in the US. The company’s team of professional consultants and contractors provide a full complement of industry disciplines when required.
Using Mr. Light’s geological and business experience, Thunder also actively invests in public-traded, US and international E&P companies as well as participating in pre-IPO funding of start-up companies.
